Replace a Tooth.
Restore the Whole
Picture.

Most providers place implants where the bone is easiest to reach. We place them where the final tooth needs to exist — and build everything backward from there. It's a more demanding approach. It's also the one that lasts.

You Deserve a Plan That's Actually Thought Through

Getting a crown should be straightforward. Instead, most patients describe the same frustrating experience: a long appointment, a mouthful of impression material, a temporary crown that doesn't feel right, and then weeks of waiting — only to come back and find out the color is off, or the fit needs adjusting.

That frustration is what drove us to change everything about how we do crowns. Today, the dentist designs your crown, in our office, while you're in the chair — and in most cases, you leave the same day with a permanent restoration that fits exactly as it should.

What to Expect

Your implant process,
step by step

Consultation

Full Evaluation

We assess bone volume, position, and quality using 3D imaging. We evaluate your bite and the neighboring teeth. We discuss your timeline expectations.

Planning

Digital Planning

We design the final crown first. The implant position is then planned to support it precisely. Every risk — nerve proximity, sinus location, bone density variations — is mapped in the digital plan before surgery begins.

Surgery

Placement

The surgical guide translates the digital plan into precise, predictable placement. We allocate 90 minutes. You're fully numb, the procedure is efficient, and you leave the same day with a clear picture of what to expect during healing.

Healing

Integration

The body needs time to integrate the implant,  typically three to six months. If you're replacing a visible tooth, we manage your aesthetics during this period with temporaries so you're never without a tooth in a visible area.

Restoration

Crown Placed

Once integration is confirmed, the permanent crown is placed. Because we control the restoration in-house using our digital workflow, the crown is designed specifically for the implant position, the surrounding teeth, and your bite — not sent to a lab that's never met you.

Your Guide Through This Process

"Most failed implants don't fail because of the titanium. They fail because the restoration wasn't designed with enough precision — wrong angle, wrong position, wrong relationship to the bite. That's exactly why we plan the crown first, and the surgery second."

Four things that separate
Us From Others

The planning, the materials, and the philosophy behind treatment.

01

Placed for the tooth. Not the bone.

Prosthetically driven placement means the final restoration determines where the implant goes — not the path of least resistance. The result is an implant that functions correctly, loads properly, and is maintainable for the long term. When bone position makes ideal placement difficult, we have that conversation with you and lay out your options.

02

Fully digital, guided surgery.

Every implant at Tanglewood is placed using a fully digital, guided workflow. We know exactly where we're going before we begin — nerve locations, bone density, sinus proximity. The hard work happens in the planning phase, not in the operatory. Most guided surgeries take 30 to 40 minutes. There are no surprises, no question marks, no whoopsies.

03

Name-brand implants only. No exceptions.

When a provider places an off-brand implant, you often don't know it. Generic implants lack the research backing, manufacturing consistency, and warranty coverage of name-brand systems. At Tanglewood we use only the most rigorously studied implant brands — the same ones with the longest clinical track records and the strongest manufacturer warranties.

Old way vs. our way

What "Standard" Implant
Care Looks Like Vs. What
We Do

The Standard Approach
Implant placed where bone is most accessible — crown adapted to whatever angle results
Freehand placement based on surgeon feel — limited pre-surgical visualization of risks
Off-brand or generic implants used to control cost — patient rarely informed of the brand
Crown sent to an external lab — technician designs it without seeing the patient
If bone is insufficient, patient often told "we can't do an implant here" — end of conversation
The Tanglewood Approach
Restoration designed first — implant placed where the tooth needs to be, not where it's easiest
Fully digital guided surgery — nerve, sinus, and bone all mapped before a single incision
Name-brand implants only — backed by clinical research, manufacturer warranties, and global compatibility
Crown designed in-house by the treating dentist — built for the exact position, bite, and aesthetic goal
If bone needs augmentation, we explain both paths — graft for ideal outcome, or honest tradeoffs of each option

A Few Things Patients
Ask Us Often

What exactly is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the implant fuses with the bone (osseointegration), a custom porcelain crown is attached to replicate the appearance and function of a natural tooth. Dental implants are widely considered the gold standard for tooth replacement because they preserve jawbone, do not damage adjacent teeth, and can last a lifetime with proper care.

Are dental implants painful?

The implant placement procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so patients experience no pain during the surgery. Post-procedure discomfort is typically mild to moderate and resolves within 3–5 days. Most of our patients describe the recovery as less uncomfortable than a tooth extraction. Over-the-counter pain medication is usually sufficient for managing any soreness in the days following placement.

How long does the dental implant process take?

The complete process at Tanglewood Dental Associates typically takes 4–9 months. This includes: consultation and DSD planning (2–4 weeks), implant post placement, osseointegration healing (3–6 months), and final crown attachment (1–2 additional appointments). In cases where immediate loading protocols are appropriate, a temporary restoration can be placed the same day as surgery. Your specific timeline will be established at your first consultation.

How long do dental implants last?

The titanium implant post is designed to be permanent — with proper care and maintenance, it can last a lifetime. The porcelain crown attached to the implant typically lasts 15–25 years before it may need replacement due to normal wear, much like natural tooth enamel. At Tanglewood, we plan every implant case with a 20–40 year mindset, selecting materials and positioning that maximise long-term stability.

Am I a candidate for dental implants if I have bone loss?

Many patients who have experienced bone loss after tooth loss are still excellent implant candidates — but may require a bone graft before or during implant placement to restore sufficient bone volume. A bone graft adds 3–6 months to the treatment timeline but does not affect the long-term outcome of the implant. CBCT imaging at your consultation will reveal the exact state of your jawbone and whether a graft is necessary.
