Before you get veneers, ask these questions.
Do my teeth need to be repositioned first? Veneers change color, shape, and length, but they don't fix crowding or a misaligned bite. If your teeth are significantly out of position, ask whether orthodontics should happen before veneers, not instead of the conversation entirely.
Can I see a mockup before treatment starts? Digital design tools allow a provider to show you a preview of your outcome before any tooth is touched, and to catch unrealistic expectations early, such as a midline that can't be corrected with veneers alone. Ask if this kind of preview is part of your treatment plan.
Is the shade I want realistic for a natural look? Some very bright, opaque shades cannot look natural no matter how skilled the ceramist is. Ask your provider to be honest about the tradeoff between a specific shade and a natural appearance, rather than simply agreeing to whatever you request.
How will the veneer meet my gumline? This detail, sometimes called the emergence profile, matters more for long-term gum health than most people realize. A veneer that creates a ledge at the gumline is harder to keep clean and more likely to cause irritation or recession over time. Ask how this is being planned for in your case specifically.
What's the actual timeline, and why? A rushed veneer case can mean less quality control between design and manufacturing. Ask how many rounds of review happen before your veneers are finalized, and don't assume faster is automatically better.
