Why Your Invisalign Case Gets Reviewed by Multiple Doctors, Not One

Dr. Lawnin

If you've had Invisalign somewhere else, there's a good chance one dentist reviewed your scans, and a technician at the aligner company, not a licensed orthodontist, built the actual movement plan behind the scenes.

We do this differently, and it comes down to a simple belief: more qualified eyes on a case catch more problems before they happen. Every Invisalign case in our office is reviewed by at least six people with direct clinical training. That's Dr. Lawnin and Dr. Korloo in-house, a restorative dentist and orthodontist from our Digital Smile Design collaboration, and orthodontists from the aligner company itself. Everyone involved is looking at the same case from a slightly different angle: bite mechanics, aesthetic outcome, tooth movement sequencing.

What this actually changes for patients is fewer refinements. When a case is reviewed by one person, small issues sometimes don't surface until months in, when a refinement tray becomes necessary to correct the course. When six people with relevant expertise are collaborating on the plan from the start, more of those issues get caught before they ever happen. Family members who've done Invisalign with us and then watched a partner or sibling do it elsewhere have noticed the difference directly: fewer refinements, and a more predictable timeline start to finish.
